TYPES OF LCD DISPLAYS-
LCD display-
In the Liquid Crystal Display each pixel does not produce the coloured light as like in OLED displays, instead they have a backlight which acts as a light source to illuminate the pixels.
The black light produces the white light and it has two polarizing Layer one in vertical orientation another one in horizontal orientation, in between those two layer there is a liquid crystal.
Which changes the alignment of light According to the given voltage by an electrode Change in alignment blocks or Allow the light to pass through
Through a colour filter which has three primary colours RGB which can produce desired colour then coloured light passes through a polarizing layer to reach the display.
Basically all LCD panels follow this working method based on some changes the LCD panels are categorised into many types.
TN LCD displays-
VA LCD displays-
The VA panels are better than the TN panels, the VA panel offers better viewing angles, colour reproduction, it also has low input lag like TN panels, it supports very high refresh rates with comparatively less ghosting so high end gamers also prefers this display a lot.
Even Though the VA panels are good, they are not as good as IPS panels, but VA panels have an issue called Black smearing.
IPS LCD displays-
The IPS panel is better than the both VA and TN panel, in terms of color accuracy and viewing angles and in many aspects, but it is also costlier than others.
The IPS panel offers good overall performance in comparatively cheaper price than LED and OLEDs so they are widely used in many devices but they can’t produce deep blacks.
TFT LCD displays-
TFT (thin film transistor) panels are the same as the almost IPS LCD panels, but it has a layer called Thin Film Transistor. which connected to crystal layer and it passes the current to a specific place in a matrix it covers, it consumes 15% less power than IPS panels.
LED displays-
Mini LED displays-
Mini LEDs offer great colors and performance as good as OLED but they can't produce OLED's level of deep blacks, mini LED offers great color accuracy and covers a wide range of color gamuts, so it is used for productivity purpose.
QLED displays-
Normal LED display uses blue LED as back light, the blue back light is converted into white back light with help of a Phosphorus Layer, the white light from the layer passes through a colour filter and gives coloured light, but it displays the colours like red to a dimmer side.
The QLED also uses the blue back light but the QLED uses quantum dots Red and Green nano crystals layer instead of phosphorus layer which can emit refined colored light, hence it can display brighter wide range of colors, detailed picture.
QLEDs are surely greater than standard LED displays, QLED give tough competition to OLEDs in terms of picture quality and colors, OLEDs still shines as better display with its inky deep blacks.
OLED displays-
OLEDs are praised by the tech community for its inky blacks and rich colors, OLED organic LED is organic material between two electrodes emits light when pass current, it is arranged as pixels
so each pixel itself can produce lights, so each pixel can operate individually. it turns on or off according to the content it wants to display.So it represents blacks as pure black and offers high dynamic range and contrast levels,
OLEDs are not that power efficient when comparing it to QLED and mini LEDs, as the OLED user organic material on the long run OLED displays is subjected to an issue called burning.
The burning makes the objects or text that displayed longer are permanently etched into the display, let's see about various types of OLEDs.
POLED display-
Plastic OLEDs are same as the OLED only difference is in between the layers covering the organic material, usually the OLED uses the glass for the layer, but POLED uses a type of plastic layer instead of that glass layer
So the POLED are more thin and flexible so it is used in rollable and foldable device displays and also it reduces the cost of the display as plastic being a cheap material.
AMOLED display-
The Active Matrix OLED has a layer of cathode and organic layer, but after the organic layer the TFT film acts as anode and it's in the matrix format, so you can deliver the power to the specific pixel you want with help of that anode matrix network.
The AMOLED are widely seen in mobiles and tablets, it has same positives and negatives of OLEDs.
PMOLED display-
Passive Matrix OLED display has a layer of organic material in between anodes and cathodes , but anode and cathodes are in the form of perpendicular lines that cross each other, the crossing point connects organic material to circuit and acts as a pixel.
The PMOLED are not power that efficient when comparing it to AMOLED.
Conclusion-
There are a variety of displays available in the market with unique advantages, while considering the overall performance.
OLED displays are the best for media consumption, they excels in every aspect brighter and vivid colour, high dynamic range, and high contrast OLEDs are great.
But considering the fact OLED tends to undergo into burning issue during long term use then you can say MINI LED displays is a another best option it offers great HDR experience, high colour accuracy than OLEDs.
So if you want a display for long term & productivity purposes, then you can choose MINI LED displays.
